Xian Zhang is the current Music Director of New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Principal Guest Conductor of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and Conductor Emeritus of Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi. Previously, she served as Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC National Orchestra & Chorus of Wales, and was the first female conductor to hold a titled role with a BBC orchestra. Her recent and upcoming engagements in the US include Houston, Minnesota, Philadelphia and Detroit, Dallas, Baltimore, Montreal, Ottawa (NAC) symphony orchestras. In Europe last season, she worked with Orchestre National de Lyon and Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. This 2020/21 season and the next, she plans to conduct the London Symphony, Philharmonia, Warsaw Philharmonic, and MDR Leipzig orchestras.
