Johan de Meij (born Voorburg, 1953) is a Dutch composer and conductor, known for his award-winning compositions and symphonic arrangements, including his famous Symphony No. 1 The Lord of the Rings. His works, such as Symphony No. 2 The Big Apple and Symphony No. 3 Planet Earth, are performed worldwide by renowned orchestras. Originally a trombonist and euphonium player, De Meij is a sought-after guest conductor and teacher, and was guest conductor of the Simón Bolívar Youth Wind Orchestra in Venezuela from 2010 to 2023. He is founder of Amstel Music, his own music publishing company.
