From 2015 to 2024 he was director of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and before that was director of Het Gelders Orkest from 2008 to 2015. From 2003 to 2008 he was director of the Rotterdam Conservatory of Music. He has served on the jury of the Princess Christina Competition, Prix d’Harmonie, the International Trombone Competition in Nizny Novgorod and the Trombone Competition Toulon, among others. He studied trombone at the Rotterdam Conservatory of Music.
