Cathy Milliken is an internationally award-winning performer and composer known for her expressive instrumental and vocal works. Born in Brisbane and based in Berlin, she works in diverse musical worlds and is recognized worldwide as a composer, creative director, educational consultant and performer. Milliken studied in Australia and Europe and was a founding member of Ensemble Modern, where she collaborated with artists such as György Ligeti and Frank Zappa. She has composed for concert, opera, radio and film, with clients such as the Southbank Centre and the Staatsoper Berlin. Milliken is also a versatile performer, known for her sound improvisations with oboe and voice. She has received several awards, including the Prix Italia and the APRA AMCOS/AMC Art Music Award.
