Christina Pluhar is a renowned performer and teacher, specializing in historical instruments such as the Renaissance lute, Baroque guitar, archlute, theorbo, and Baroque harp. After studying guitar in Graz, she graduated in lute from the Hague Conservatoire under Toyohiko Satoh, and later continued her studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Hopkinson Smith. She was awarded the ‘Diplôme Supérieur de Perfectionnement’ and studied with Mara Galassi in Milan.
Based in Paris since 1992, Pluhar regularly performs as a soloist and continuo player with prominent groups such as La Fenice, Concerto Soave, and Les Musiciens du Louvre. In 1992, she won the 1st Prize in the International Old Music Competition in Malmö with the ensemble La Fenice. She founded the ensemble Arpeggiata, recording several albums for the Alpha label.
Pluhar has been giving master classes at Graz University since 1993 and has taught baroque harp at the Conservatoire of The Hague since 1999. Her repertoire spans works from the 16th to 18th centuries.
